Coding Test Process

  • Type of Test: 100% coding questions
  • Choice of Languages: You will have five languages to choose from, including: C++, C#, Java, Python and JavaScript.
  • # of Questions: 3
  • # of Test Cases: Each question will have two to five Test Cases. There are two types – Default Test Cases and Basic Test Cases.
    • Default Test Cases will help ensure that your solution is on the right track. These Default Test Cases carry NO marks.
    • Basic Test Cases carry marks. Please attempt ALL the Basic Test Cases.
  • Duration: 3 hours and 15 minutes. Please ensure you click the submit button before time is up. If you do not click submit, you may lose marks.

You can take the test ON CAMPUS from your college or at an authorized center.

  1. Can students from other streams participate in the Coding test?

    Yes. If you absolutely love programming, and developing software products is your passion, you are welcome to apply!

  2. Can I participate in the Coding test if I have backlog?

    Yes. If you are passionate about coding and can crack our exam, you are welcome.

  1. Can we use mobile phones to take the examination?

    Mobile phones are not permitted to take the Coding test. Only desktops or laptops are permitted.

  2. Can I take the test from home?

    No. If your college is in Kochi or Lucknow, you MUST take the test from your college or an authorized center allocated to you. If you need more clarification, click here for a list of colleges.

  3. How will I receive my test link?

    The link will be sent to your registered email ID. At the Test center, the invigilator will give you the code to activate.

  4. When will I receive the test link?

    You will receive the Coding Test Link 48 hours prior to the test date in your registered email ID. If you do not receive it by then, please inform your Placement Officer. Check your Junk/SPAM folder before contacting your Placement Officer.

  5. What should I remember while taking the Coding test?

    Check out SOTI's "Coding Test Instructions" requirements for specific details.

  6. What is the coding test date, time and duration?

    Please sign in within the proposed time frame you are provided with. Your link will only be active at this time.

  7. What should I bring to the on-campus test center?

    1. College ID card with photo
    2. Government ID cards – Aadhaar/ PAN Card/ Driver’s license
    3. Paper
    4. Pen
    5. Calculator

  8. May I do calculations on paper during the test?

    Yes, this is permitted.

  9. Are there any negative marks?

    No. There will be no negative marks.

  10. What type of questions can I expect in the Coding test?

    You can expect competitive coding questions. We strongly encourage you to practice.

  11. How can I take the Coding test if I don’t have a laptop?

    Please contact your Placement Officer immediately and request arrangements. In the past, students have borrowed laptops from friends, neighbors or family members to take the Coding test.

  12. The data (name / email / mobile / college name) I entered in the registration form is wrong. How can I get this corrected?

    Please take extra care while filling out the information form – especially your email and phone numbers. This information is used for all forms of correspondence, including the test link. Once submitted you may not be allowed to correct. Please DOUBLE CHECK before you press submit.

  1. What can I expect during the interview process?

    Our interview process has both informal discussion and technical elements. First, we want to understand your skills, abilities and passion.

    During the technical interview, we want to understand your critical thinking abilities, logical reasoning and the depth of your knowledge. Our questions are designed to assess your knowledge of different technical concepts and the efforts you have taken to understand and use this knowledge during your studies. A good understanding of data structures and algorithms will help a great deal.

  2. When are the interviews?

    Generally, interviews take place within two weeks of the Coding Test. We will inform your Placement Officer, so please stay in touch with them. You will also be contacted by email if you are applying directly.

  3. Can I speak in my native language?

    Our panelists do speak some of the Indian languages. Ideally, you can mix English with your native language.

  4. Do you give marks for English proficiency?

    No. There are no marks awarded for English proficiency, though we strongly encourage you to refine your English competency skills, as we are a global company and this is the language we work in with our colleagues around the world.

  1. Is there an employment bond?

    No. We do not ask freshers to sign any bond. However, our recruitment process is very selective, and we intentionally seek candidates who want to make a long-term commitment to growing within SOTI. We support you through extensive training, programs and career paths and prioritize investing in developing our people.

  2. When will the intake be?

    SOTI's Next Gen Campus Recruitment Drive in India is for the July 2024 intake.
