Lockdown (Android Classic)

Device lockdown replaces the standard device home screen with a customizable home screen that provides access only to authorized applications and websites.

Note: There are two types of lockdown: device control and speed control. Device control applies lockdown settings continually while speed control applies lockdown when the device exceeds the speed specified in the profile configuration. You can choose to configure only device control or use both. However, when speed control is active, it overrides any settings specified in device control.

Device Control

Custom Home Screen

Click Add to add a home screen item to the lockdown profile configuration. Home screen items are the authorized apps that will be available when a device is in lockdown mode. Device Control home screen items and Speed Control home screen items are entirely separate from each other. If you're using both Device Control and Speed Control and you want to use the same home screen items for both, you must enter information for them in both places.

Choose a lockdown template that determines how your home screen items are displayed on the device. You can use a predefined template provided by SOTI MobiControl or create your own template.

Lockdown Settings

Select the type of device control lockdown you want on the device.

Lockdown Type Choose either Package Blocking (Legacy) or Activity Suppression as your lockdown type.

Package Blocking (Legacy) prevents all applications from launching or running in the background unless explicitly allowed by the active Lockdown policy. This option can be overly restrictive and cause issues by inadvertently blocking system applications.

Note: This option should not be used with the Disable Factory Reset and Block OS Upgrade device feature control policies.

Activity Suppression moves all undesired activities from the foreground to the background of the device where users cannot access them.

Samsung Package Disabling When enabled, undesired activities are disabled at the package level. This method is only available for certain Samsung devices. The devices must be running Android 5.0+, have MDM5+ and have a 13.3.1+ SOTI MobiControl agent installed.

Status Bar Settings

Disable Settings Changes Select this option to disable settings changes on the device.

Activation Time Specify the starting time during each day that you want speed control to potentially be active on the device.
Deactivation Time Specify the ending time during each day when you want speed control to potentially be active on the device.
Speed control starts at Enter the speed at which speed control will be triggered, and the speed measurement unit.
Note: When the device travels at or above this speed, speed lockdown will not be applied until the time specified in the Engage Timer field has expired.
Engage Timer Enter the time (in seconds) during which the device travels at or above the threshold speed before speed lockdown is applied. This delay helps prevent the excessive applying of speed lockdown.
Disengage Timer Enter the time (in seconds) during which the device travels below the threshold speed before speed lockdown is removed. This delay helps prevent the excessive removal of speed lockdown.
Scripts You can set scripts to activate when a device enters or exits speed control. To add a new script, click Scripts to open the Manage Scripts dialog box.
Speed Control is activated Select the script you want executed on the device when speed lockdown is applied.
Speed Control is deactivated Select the script you want executed on the device when speed lockdown is removed.

Templates

Templates are HTML files that dictate how the home screen items are displayed on the device when it's in lockdown mode. You can use one of the SOTI MobiControl provided templates or create your own templates.

Custom Templates

To create a new custom template, click Add to open the Lockdown: Custom Templates dialog box.

You can edit, duplicate, or delete your custom templates. You can also upload an HTML template file to SOTI MobiControl. Click Import Template then browse to the HTML file on your computer. Click Import.
