Add an Email Destination

About this task

Destinations are where the data extracted from an app form is sent. You can send data from one app to multiple destinations. Destinations are configured by data export rules. That is, when you created the data export rule in the SOTI Snap console, only data as filtered by that rule is available to be sent to the destination.

To set up a destination:

Procedure

  1. On the Configurations page, expand the app and click Configure under the Destinations heading.
  2. Click Add Destination
  3. Choose an Email Connection from the dropdown list.
  4. The Form is preselected based on the data export rule and non-editable.
  5. Enter the email addresses of the recipients in the To field.
You can add macros to dynamically generate a list of recipients depending on the contents of the record. For example, if there's an email address field in the app, you can add a macro that automatically populates the To field with the email address entered into that field.
  6. Enter a subject line for the email message.
You can add macros to dynamically generate more specific subject lines based on the contents of the record.
  7. Optional: Add any attachments you want to include in the message. Choose a macro (also called 'merge field') from the macro list and you can add data such as captured images as attachments to the email message.
If you choose a camera widget in the Attachment field, you have the option of exporting photos in PDF format by selecting the Export in PDF Format check box. Multiple photos from the same camera widget are combined into a single PDF file. The generated PDF file name has a maximum length of 256 characters with the following syntax: Email Subject_WidgetID.
  8. Enter the body text of the message.
You can add macros to dynamically generate more specific message content based on the contents of the record.
  9. Click Test Destination to confirm that the destination is active.
  10. Click Save to save your settings.

Results

Data from the app will be exported to the specified destination according to the settings you choose both here and in the SOTI Snap data export rule.
