Energy Saver

About this task

Use the Energy Saver profile configuration to configure sleep and wake options for macOS devices.

To configure an Energy Saver profile configuration:

Procedure

  1. Create a new profile. On the Profiles view, click New Profile and choose Apple > macOS Device Profile.
  2. Click Energy Saver under the Security and Restrictions section to open the Energy Saver profile configuration.
  3. On the Desktop tab, you can configure settings for when your macOS computer should sleep or wake up.
    Put Computer to Sleep After Select the length of inactive time before the computer enters sleep mode.
    Put Displays to Sleep After Select the length of inactive time before the display enters sleep mode.
    Put Hard Disks to Sleep When Possible Select this option to enable the hard disk to enter sleep mode whenever possible.
    Wake for ENA Access Select this option to enable the computer to wake up when accessed by the Ethernet network administrator (ENA).
    Allow Power Button to Sleep Computer Select this option to enable the computer to enter sleep mode when the power button is pressed.
    Start Up Automatically After Power Failure Select this option to enable the computer to automatically restart after a power failure.
  4. Move to the Portable tab to configure power settings for when your macOS device is using battery power.
    Put Computer to Sleep After Select the length of inactive time before the computer enters sleep mode.
    Put Displays to Sleep After Select the length of inactive time before the display enters sleep mode.
    Put Hard Disks to Sleep When Possible Select this option to enable the hard disk to enter sleep mode whenever possible.
    Wake for ENA Access Select this option to enable the computer to wake up when accessed by the Ethernet network administrator (ENA).
    Start Up Automatically After Power Failure Select this option to enable the computer to automatically restart after a power failure.
  5. Move to the Schedule tab to configure schedules to start the computer or trigger another action (sleep, restart, shut down) automatically.
    Start Up the Computer Select this option to schedule a regular time when the device will start up if it is powered off.
    Set Up Action Select this option to schedule a regular time when the device will enter sleep mode, restart, or shut down. Select an action from the dropdown list and then set a schedule.
  6. Click Save to save it to the profile.
