Setup Checklists

Use the following checklists to help install and set up SOTI Connect.

General Pre-Setup Checklist

  1. Review SOTI Connect Components to understand the basic architecture of SOTI Connect.
  2. Download the SOTI Connect installer. The download page also includes a link to the product release notes, which contain important information about new features and resolution of issues.
  3. Review hardware and software requirements for both cloud and on-premise installations as described in System Requirements.
Important: Close Windows Services and Task Manager applications before performing any installation related activities.

On-Premise New Installation Checklist

  1. Review the Network Ports information and open ports as necessary. The installer adds rules to the Windows Firewall, but you may require additional ports, depending on your environment.
  2. Install and set up SQL Server as described in Installing and Setting Up SQL Server.
  3. Install and set up HiveMQ, as described in Setting Up HiveMQ for MQTT Device Brokering. HiveMQ requires the installation of additional applications such as Java components and a keystore generation tool, needed when using MQTT devices.
  4. Install and set up third-party REST device middleware as required for Honeywell Cloud Connect or Brother Device Conductor REST devices.
    Note: If you are experiencing issues installing Honeywell Cloud Connect, visit Honeywell.To find the Honeywell Cloud Connect User Guide, select Software > Software and Tools > Device Management > Honeywell Cloud Connect.
  5. Run the SOTI Connect installer as described in Installing SOTI Connect. After installation, use the installer to add components or change the configuration.
  6. (Optional) Cluster multiple Protocol Adapters as described in Adding a New Protocol Adapter (PA) to Form a Cluster.
  7. (Optional) Cluster Management Services (MS) to provide a backup MS in case the primary one fails. See Setting Up a Management Service (MS) Cluster.
  8. (Optional) Cluster File Store services (FS), which provide load balancing and failover support, as described in Setting Up an FS Cluster.

Step 3 - Post Installation Setup Checklist

  1. Review the process for updating SOTI Connect as new releases become available, as described in Updating the Software Version.
  2. Review the content in About the Console, which provides information on initial setup within the console, including Managing Users and Managing Devices.
  3. Review the process for uninstalling SOTI Connect as described in Uninstalling SOTI Connect.
