Editing Custom Attributes

Before you begin

To edit the Name or Value of a custom attribute, you must first make sure the custom attribute is not in use. Make sure all devices, device groups, virtual groups and profiles have a value of None (Inherited) for the custom attribute.

About this task

Note: Once you assign a custom attribute a value, you can no longer change its data type. To edit the value of a custom attribute, see Assigning Custom Attribute Values.

To edit a custom attribute:

Procedure

  1. Select Global Settings from the main menu.
  2. From the Settings tree on the left, select Device Settings > Custom Attributes to open the Custom Attributes page (see Custom Attributes).
  3. Do one of the following:
    • From the context menu to the left of the attribute's name, select Edit.
    • Select the attribute's name.
  4. In the Edit Custom Attribute dialog box that appears, edit the selected attribute as required. The layout and functionality of this dialog box are the same to those of the Add/Edit Custom Attribute dialog box.
  5. Select Save.
