Email: Exchange Active Sync (iOS)

The Exchange Active Sync email configuration enables you to configure Microsoft Exchange email settings for your devices.

General Settings

Sync the Past Select how far back to synchronize past emails. The following options are available:
  • One Day
  • Three Days
  • One Week
  • Two Weeks
  • One Month
  • Unlimited
Allow Moving Messages Between Email Accounts Permits the users to move email messages between the different configured email accounts on the device.
Allow 3rd Party Applications to Send Email Permits 3rd party applications on the device to use this email account for sending emails.
Allow Recent Email Address Sync to iCloud Permits syncing to iCloud of new email addresses from recently sent email.
Enable S/MIME Allows you to utilize the following S/MIME cryptographic security services for email accounts:
  • authentication
  • message integrity
  • non-repudiation of origin (using digital signatures)
  • privacy and data security (using encryption)
    • full or per message encryption

S/MIME specifies the MIME type application/pkcs7-mime (smime-type "enveloped-data") for data enveloping (encrypting) where the whole (prepared) MIME entity to be enveloped is encrypted and packed into an object which subsequently is inserted into an application/pkcs7-mime MIME entity.

Enable Signing by Default Enables S/MIME signing by default. (Requires iOS 10.3 or later.)
Allow User Override of Enable Signing by Default Enables the device user to toggle S/MIME signing on or off in Settings. (Requires iOS 12.0 or later.)
Signing Certificate Select the existing S/MIME Signing Certificate from the certificate library on the device.
Allow User Override of Signing Certificate Enables the device user to select the signing identity in Settings. (Requires iOS 12.0 or later.)
Enable Encryption by Default Enables S/MIME encryption by default for this account in Settings. If the Allow Per-Message Encryption Switch option is disabled, the device user cannot change this setting. (Requires iOS 10.3 or later.)
Allow User Override of Enable Encryption by Default Enables the device user to toggle S/MIME encryption on or off in Settings. (Requires iOS 12.0 or later.)
Encryption Certificate Select the existing S/MIME Encryption Certificate from the certificate library on the device.
Allow User Override Encryption Certificate Enables the device user to select the encryption identity in Settings. (Requires iOS 12.0 or later.)
Allow Per-Message Encryption Switch Allows the user to decide whether to send encrypted emails.

Connection

Account Name Enter the account name of your organization.
Domain Enter the domain name of your organization. Supports macros.
Server Enter the IP address or hostname, and (optionally) the port number, of the Exchange email server. If you use Enterprise Resource Gateway to route your traffic, enter the IP address or hostname of the proxy server instead. Read Routing Traffic Through a Proxy Server for more information.
Note: This field is case sensitive.
Use SSL This option allows the end user to select whether or not SSL is used for communication with the Exchange server.
Authentication Credential Certificate Select an Authentication Credential Certificate from the list of authentication certificates installed on the device.

Device Specific Settings

User Enter the user name associated with your exchange account. Supports macros.
OAuth Select this option to have the connection use OAuth for authentication for this account. When this option is selected, a password is not required. (Requires iOS 12.0 or later.)
OAuth Sign In URL Enter the URL this account should use for signing in via OAuth. When this URL is specified, you must also specify a host. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
OAuth Token Request URL Enter the URL this account should use for token requests via OAuth. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Password Enter the account password here.
Email Configuration Enter the email address associated with your exchange account. Supports macros.

Application Services

Allow Mail Drop Select this option to allow this account to use Mail Drop. (Requires iOS 9.0 or later.)
Allow Calendars Select this option to allow this account to use the Calendars service. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow User Override Calendars Select this option to allow the device owner to turn the Calendars service on or off. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow Contacts Select this option to allow this account to use the Contacts service. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow User Override Contacts Select this option to allow the device owner to turn the Contacts service on or off. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow Mail Select this option to allow this account to use the Mail service. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow User Override Mail Select this option to allow the device owner to turn the Mail service on or off. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow Notes Select this option to allow this account to use the Notes service. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow User Override Notes Select this option to allow the device owner to turn the Notes service on or off. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow Reminders Select this option to allow this account to use the Reminders service. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
Allow User Override Reminders Select this option to allow the device owner to turn the Reminders service on or off. (Requires iOS 13.0 or later.)
