Routing Your Traffic Through a Proxy Server

The Enterprise Resource Gateway (ERG) enables you to control Internet traffic using a proxy server. The proxy server acts as a single point of contact serving client requests. The proxy server authenticates each request based on Client Exchange / Device ID and other parameters and forwards the request to the desired destination server.

ERG handles a request in the following manner:

  1. A device makes a request to a WebDAV repository using the URL of a proxy server such as SOTIhubProxy.domain.com.
  2. The proxy server is controlled by the SOTI MobiControl server. Depending on the configuration settings in SOTI MobiControl, the proxy server either denies the request or forwards the request to an internal WebDAV server

You must perform the following modifications to your machine to prepare it for ERG:

  1. Set up Application Request Routing and URL Rewrite.
  2. Configure the Root Certificate.
  3. Install ERG.
  4. Configure ERG.
  5. Set Up the IIS Module.
Note: If you upgraded from a previous version of SOTI MobiControl, you must re-install ERG using the ERG setup file provided with the updated SOTI MobiControl Console.
