MobiControl Manager allows administrators to create a set of rules to automatically control and manage their mobile field force. MobiControl Manager Rules View, allows administrators to configure rules as well as, lets you view information about existing rules.
Example - Automatic Configuration and Deployment of Packages ![]() MobiControl Manager - Rules View The 'Rules View' in MobiControl Manager allows rules to be viewed and configured. The tree on the left shows the rules currently configured. MobiControl allows users to define Add Devices Rules, Deployment Rules and File Sync Rules. Add Devices Rules are used to automatically add new devices to the system. With an Add Device Rule in place, when a new device is provisioned with the MobiControl Device Agent it will automatically get added to the system and configured. Once configured the device will be visible in the MobiControl Manager Devices View and will appear in the appropriate section of the device tree as specified in the Add Device Rule. If Deployment Rule(s) are in place, newly configured devices will get immediately provisioned with the appropriate packages and be ready for service. Deployment Rules are used to automatically keep devices updated and provisioned with the appropriate packages. When an administrator needs to install a piece of software/data on a group of devices, he/she creates a Deployment Rule. MobiControl then takes care of provisioning the devices with the software/data and making status information available to the administrator via reports and logs. Deployment rules can push packages to devices immediately or at scheduled times. By disabling a Deployment Rule an administrator can remove packages from devices. File Sync Rules are used to automatically synchronize files between devices and a file repository accessible by the Deployment Server(s). File Sync Rules can be used to collect files from devices or disseminate files from a server to a set of devices. To view information about a rule, simply click on the rule in the tree, data about the selected rule will then be displayed in the right panes of the Rules View. The Execution Chart provides a real-time graphical view of the status of a Deployment Rule. The Logs panel shows real-time information about the execution of the rule. |
