The Job

The Training and Development Manager plan, direct, or coordinate the training and development activities and staff of an organization. The primary purpose of this position is to enhance organizational capability and performance through flawlessly executing global training and development initiatives. The leader in this role will support corporate, functional and business unit performance and development objectives. This role partners with global HR and their leaders to design and implement individual and team developmental needs. Overall scope includes design, management, and facilitation of global training and development programs for individual contributors, frontline leaders, and middle managers.

The Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires.
  • Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
  • Develop testing and evaluation procedures.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Work with key stakeholders to design, implement, sustain and evaluate training and development initiatives.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify current and future performance and capability gaps.
  • Determine achievement of learning objectives and transfer of knowledge for continuously improvement.
  • Manage multiple training and development suppliers and evaluate their effectiveness and/or performance.
  • Facilitate training and development programs for a variety of employee levels and cultures.
  • Partner with HR and management to create and drive training reinforcement plans  and accountability.
  • Provide instructional design consultation and support for “off the shelf" and customized training programs.
  • Build relationships and instill trust through sharing knowledge, receiving feedback, and delivering results.
  • Manage and drive learning management system improvements to improve global scale and efficiency.
  • Frequently communicate training and development progress and results to key stakeholders.

The Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess an advanced degree in Organizational Behavior, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Instructional Design, or HR with five to seven years of experience creating and implementing talent management processes, programs, and metrics for medium to large companies; preferably in the IT industry. A prior role in Human Resources, Organization Development, Training and Development or Human Resources Research is required.

Experience and demonstrated competency in:

  • Facilitation of leadership, management, and employee development programs.
  • Experience implementing medium to large scale change initiatives.
  • Experience launching and sustaining global training and development programs.
  • Strong business and HR acumen.
  • Great analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly focused on job priorities and customer needs.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite (e.g. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, etc.).
